East Valley Floors, a family-owned and award-winning company founded by Von Payne in Gilbert, Arizona in 1984, has built a steadily growing business based on their quality flooring products and reliable service with great installers. “Most of our installers have been with us for over 20 years, which is quite unique in Arizona.” Von notes. To accommodate their thriving business they recently expanded by adding a new showroom.
“We’ve extended the show room by adding a complete new room dedicated to hardwood and laminate flooring samples and displays,” Von explains. “This increased the showroom to almost double its size. In this economy, when many companies are shutting their doors, we consider that an accomplishment. Our investment makes for a better selection environment for our loyal customers.”
The company has received the prestigious Certified Flooring Executive Award from the World Floor Covering Association – less than ten people have received this award in the state of Arizona. Von recently served as a judge for the Ceramic Tile & Stone Association of Arizona selecting recently completed projects for the Excellence in Workmanship award and was former Chairman and served five terms on the Gilbert Parks and Recreation Board. He was also appointed to the Budget Review Committee for the Gilbert Parks and Recreation Board two separate years.
Aside from the awards, Von is an active member of the community, a third generation Arizona native, active in the Boy Scouts of America, married to his wife for more than 30 years, and father of five children.
Von is also involved in humanitarian projects, working on projects in impoverished areas to help families in need and working and providing materials for Habitat for Humanity homes. In 2006, Von’s family and friends built a new house from the ground up for a family in Mexico for a family of five who was living in a 10 x 10 foot room made of scrap lumber and metal. In 2009, he and his two sons spent Thanksgiving weekend helping build another house in the same community.
“If people want to contribute to a worthy project, we have projects in the planning stages and appreciate contributions of construction materials and other donations,” he says.
